Platoon 3 members gathered outside Station 3 on Wednesday, April 29th, 2015 to honor retiring Battalion Chief Don LaBanca.
Chief LaBanca started his career in 1978 as a firefighter on Platoon 3 and worked as shift commander of platoon 3 for the last 9 years of his career. Chief LaBanca retired the next morning following thirty-seven years of service with the Hamden Fire Department.
From all of us at Local 2687, we wish Chief LaBanca a very long, healthy, happy retirement!
With the retirement of Chief LaBanca, three more officers positions were created.
We would like to congratulate the following members on their promotions:
FF Daryl Oseicki from Firefighter to Lieutenant
Lieutenant Hugh O’Callaghan to Captain
Captain Rich Otlowski to Battalion Chief

Lieutenant Oseicki will now serve as Lieutenant at Station 2 on platoon 1.
Captain O’Callaghan will now serve as Captain at Station 9 on platoon 2.
Battalion Chief Otlowski will now be Battalion Chief of Platoon 3.
